I have the EX58 UD-4P, and I notice that there are SATA and SATA2 ports. I have one HD (640GB WD) and I'm wondering if I should plug it into the regular SATA or the SATA2 port? Is the Gigabyte SATA2 port faster for any reason?

I'd bet that all of the ports are second gen SATA.

i dont think any motherboards made since the SATA II spec was released even have SATA150 ports on it. and since you have an X58 board, i'd say there's a 100% chance that all the ports are indeed SATA II

it's just confusing nomenclature, and it's pretty much the same on all GB MOBOs: they're all electrically SATAII ports; the SATA ports are to the ICHxR; The SATA2, SATAII, or GSATAs are run by the jMicron secondary interface; they are pretty much the same, except that, if you intend to use RAID, you want to use the ICH - you'll see 10-15% better throughput.
