Connecting a laptop SATA hard drive to a desktop pc

Hello,

I have a 5400rpm laptop SATA 5V 1.0A DC hard drive that I want to connect to my desktop PC to transfer files over because my laptop died.

How can I do this safely without crashing the laptop HDD?

The laptop HDD is a Hitachi Travelstar coming out of a Compaq Presario V3016US and the desktop is an EMachines T2885.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Thanks but where can I get an adapter for the drive below:

This is the drive I need to connect to my desktop to get the files off of.

I think it only has 22 pins.
