Pretty good. But if you already have a copy of windows you can reuse I'd go my route. Of course everyone thinks they built their computer the best for the money though:)

Thermaltake Spedo Full Tower 420W Case w/ Side-panel Window
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-920 2.66 GHz 8M L3 Cache LGA1366

MSI X58 Platinum Intel X58 Chipset SLI/CrossFireX Mainboard
Triple-Channel DDR3/1600 SATA RAID w/ eSATA,Dual GbLAN,USB2.0,IEEE1394a,&7.1Audio

680 Watts Power Supplies (Hush Power Supply SLI/CrossFire Ready)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX295 1.7GB 16X PCIe Video Card Powered
GRAND TOTAL $1,631.55

Edit: Ok changed it, but I still think it's a pretty good deal. I priced this out on google and pricewatch and it would actually cost me slightly more than that to buy it all piece by piece than get it in a package like this. And with the full tower case I can start to slap in my own extra hard drives and upgrades for years. I'm not sure what's up with your hatred for them, I've rarely found anything bad about them
January 10, 2009 2:44:06 AM

@ RahnThundercaller,

Don't copy and paste a list of crap from that **** seller.
January 10, 2009 10:35:22 AM

Thanks for your reply list but your list dosent even show the brand names of some of the components.
Oh and thanks for not providing any useful informaiton on my post.

I made my NE list public but it is not showing up in the Public List area of their site!

What am I doing wrong?
January 10, 2009 10:58:42 AM

January 10, 2009 11:10:14 AM

omg get the gtx 280 from the buyer.com 200 bucks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get this
January 10, 2009 11:10:34 AM

Hey thanks guys.

am I getting the correct OS?

I am not a reseller this is a system I am building is $99.00 the correct price or do I need to get a different version.
January 10, 2009 11:32:08 AM

Wow - GTX 280 for only $200 - that's amazing.

Your OS is OEM - you'll be just fine - it's for system builders and can supposedly only be installed one time, but you'll be able to use it even if you upgrade - you'd probably just have to re-register

Good luck - the build looks good.
January 10, 2009 12:41:29 PM

Uhm... that link for the GTX280 is $345... NOT $200.

Might want to jump on that deal if you are planning to go with that video card. The rest of the system looks good. Very similiar to my build. I had the same case, mobo and cpu but I went Crossfire 4850s with OCZ gold ram.

Course if I was going to buy memory again I would of went with these.

It's not $200.00 anymore.
January 10, 2009 1:51:19 PM

OMG.......

It's too late I just bought one from NewEgg 2 min ago.
January 10, 2009 1:51:20 PM

I just bought one, It is $220 minus $20 MIR = $200. Hell of a deal, this won't be around for long!!!
January 10, 2009 1:55:33 PM

Hey Mark,

Since you told me you are building for FPS games, your going way overkill. You would be better off to get a Socket 775 motherboard, and a e8400 CPU, and 2x GTX 280s or 2x 4870s, or 1 4870x2 or 1x GTX 295. You will save money and have better performance for your specific needs.

You need a 780i/790i mobo for dual Nvidia or
x38/x48 for dual ATI.

A socket 775 with dual cards, or a dual card will out perform your NE cart by a ton.
January 10, 2009 1:56:39 PM

I just ordered one from newegg 10 min ago.....how do I contact them to cancell this order!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see that they dont do phone calls on the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 10, 2009 1:58:36 PM

Says $200 for me. Thats after a $20 rebate. Price in the cart is $220.99.

Thanks for your reply but I just ordered the system 15 min ago.
Oh well live and learn......
January 10, 2009 2:00:36 PM

You can cancel in your my account tab. If you do it before they charge your card. After its charged you cant cancel. Do it fast.

Cancel it all if you can and rethink your decision. It wont ship til Monday no matter what so you can decide all weekend.
January 10, 2009 2:03:53 PM

Too late it's been charged!
January 10, 2009 2:07:51 PM

Bummer. I should of thought of it earlier.

It for sure wont ship til Monday, so you could probably cancel via phone Monday morning.
January 10, 2009 2:10:44 PM

Thanks I'll try on Monday.
January 10, 2009 2:13:59 PM

omg 280gtx for 200 bucks....im hating myself for buying 4870 1gig for $220 :p
January 10, 2009 5:29:42 PM

WOW! Thanks for the link. I just pulled the trigger for the gtx 280 SC version. Damn good price!
Time to ebay the 8800GT.

Trolling sometimes pay off quite well!
January 10, 2009 5:44:49 PM

Is it possible to SLI the SCC with the SC version??? will it be effective?
January 10, 2009 6:06:26 PM

Yes it is. The faster card will clock down to the speeds of the slower one, but you can always overclock both of them to higher speeds.
January 10, 2009 6:24:06 PM

The GTX280 normal and SC editions are not that cheap anymore. I checked only 4 hours after the last post of $190. and it's $366 after rebate.
January 11, 2009 3:41:29 AM

Well it looks like that was the end of that. No GTX 280's below $317 now on Buy.com.

I wonder what was up with that. It feels like Christmas afternoon.
January 11, 2009 4:34:45 AM

haha i crapped my pants this morning when i saw that deal. i had $500 just enough for the 295gtx but buying 2 280gtx for 400 that leaves me 100 bucks for a sli mobo. wet dreams do come true!!(i really wanted a 4870x2 or a 295gtx, which out of the 3 is better???!?!?)

I'd be spending a few $ more, and get a retail version. Saves calls to that nice person at the callcenter when you have to change out a CPU and MB, or whatever else violates M$'s 'point' system.

Two different CPU's and three different MB's, no calls yet. Neighbour had to get a new OS, and was a bit pissed off about it.
January 11, 2009 11:08:02 AM

Well at least now I dont have to call and cancell my order on Monday.

croc, are you saying that I can instal the OS only for this one specific CPU?

If yes, then thats what I would have expected.

What is the difference between Systen Builder and Retail copy of the OS?
Do they sell the Retail copy on NewEgg?
January 11, 2009 11:17:21 AM

I just noticed that my memory voltage is rated at 1.65
Should I have gotten memory at 1.60 v?

Will this work on my MO?

Never mond I just checked the Quality Vender List for that MO and it is listed there.
Thanks anyway!

OEM is licensed to the machine. Retail is licensed to you. In the case od OEM, a call to the support center may / may not result in a new license being generated, more likely not in most cases. Retail, OTOH, has a more liberal points system before a call to support is required, amd even then will almost always result in a new key. Been this way every since the WGA system was put in place. My XP retail has needed 5 calls to support, I always get a new key. My Vista has required 0 calls to the support center, and that included 3 upgrades that XP wanted me to call in. My neighbour, as previously mentioned, needed to replace his MB and CPU, support center told him his OEM license was no longer valid.

As to Newegg, I guess I could log in and look for you, but I'm in AUS so am not too familiar with that site's stocking or policies.
