Can you slave drive 2 computers

Is there a way to connect computers so that I can use computer 1 DVD drive by computer 2? I am wanting to install Windows on a new hard drive but my DVD drive on that computer does not work.

short answer is NO

however it is not that hard to take out the DVD drive and temperately hook it up to the other computer. the case can be open during the installation and the drive can be laying on its side.

A new DVD drive is about $10 if you don't care about burning. Can probably find one for $5 used around you.

I think a DVD-ROM costs something like $15, a DVD-RW $20. You may as well spend the few more bucks and get burner functionality.

Note: if you have the case open, be careful not to touch the motherboard and make sure the DVD drive is in a stable place. They vibrate quite a bit when running, much more so than hard drives. I've done this before so I know.
