Upgrade for gaming/casual usage computer. So I'm thinking one of two scenarios here...

1) Buy two Samsung Spinpoint F3 1tb HDDs for Raid 0 to put games and media on, a $180 SSD 50-64gb boot drive for windows and some regularly used applications (havent decided brand or model), and use my current 500gb Maxtor HDD for backup
Perks: Lots of storage and fast read/write all around
Cons: Relatively slow access times on the gaming drive(s), small risk with Raid 0
Cost: $320-$340

or

2) Buy a 300gb WD Velociraptor for games, a $150-$180 SSD 50-64gb boot drive for windows and some regularly used applications, and use my 500gb maxtor for data and media storage
Perks: Fast gaming drive, low risk
Cons: Far less capacity all around
Cost: $340-$370

I would go with the second... What do you need all the space for? With that install, you'd have nearly 900gb... I've never seen anyone who filled up a terabyte... except for downloading endless random movies just to say he filled up his 1 terabyte.

I agree, I'm thinking I'l get the OCZ Vertex 2 for my O/S, the Velociraptor 300gb for games only, and use my Maxtor 500gb for media and misc stuff.

I will probably get an 1tb F3 when I save an extra $75, since they are blazing fast for a 7200 and would have more space than I will need for a while. Though, I will most likely upgrade to 8gb ram before dropping money for an F3.
