Happy Sunday All,

I have a Samsung SIRTS160 HDTV Receiver connected to the only HDTV plasma
screen in the house. I've had all kinds of trouble with the HDTV signal for
the past 6 months. One of the problems I've had is the inability to get HDTV
channels even though I've subscribed to them.

After I finally got my signal problems solved but the HDTV channels still
weren't available. After a 2 hour phone session with DTV escalated service,
We got the actual HDTV channels to appear on the guide. Problem was, I got a
"searching for satellite" message when I tried to tune to them or channel
99. Frequently the system would just freeze on an HD channel eventually
going dark and then into installation mode where it would repeat the
behavior. All the other (4) receivers in the house get the 99 and 400
channel just fine. Only this one is a problem. I even switched outputs on
the multiswitch to ensure that the problem wasn't there, in the LNB or in
the cabling between multi switch and LNB. I got the same result.
I even ran a direct RG60 cable from the multiswitch to the box to ensure
that there wasn't any RG59 cable in the wall between the multiswitch and
box.....same result.
It looks like we have it narrowed down to the box which is less than a year
old. If that is the case, the box worked for about 2 months where we were
able to view HDTV programming. Since we had all kinds of other goofy
problems in the system.....we attributed them to the 70's 80's and 90's not
working.
I'd sure appreciate anyone else's opinion on this. There are some smart
folks on this group.

Many thanks,

Dino

Most manufactures have a 1 year warranty on the equipment... if it does and
it's still good, get it replaced. If you're getting the standard definition
channels fine and are having problems with the signal strength of the HC
channels, you may have an alignment problem... but it doesn't sound that way
from your post.
