Recieved some great advice from these forums and the comp is running well so far!

Some quick questions...looking at CPU temps: The MSI mobo software says the CPU is operating at 22C but I downloaded Core Temp 0.99.3 and it breaks each core down AND says each core is running in the 30C to 37C range. Should I be concerned? which is more accurate?

I hope to overclock this comp but need to understand temperatures. :)

Also...What does IHO stand for?!? :D

Thanks!

cpu temp and core temp are seperate things. They are probably both correct. I use real temp for monitoring and it has a utility to check the accuracy of the readings.

22C is suspicious. For example I have 25C in my room right now and there's no way a fan can cool a CPU below room temperature.

37C is very good for a CPU in idle mode, especially if your room is warm like mine. I'm getting 33 to 37 right now in CoreTemp 0.95, with Q6600/Scythe Ninja, and the PC is running only a movie and FireFox.

After running the new machine for 13 hrs. core temp is showing a range of 31-38C while gaming it did get up to 35-42C per core. GreenPower Center which comes with the MSI board shows CPU temp at 23C now it did get up to 30C while gaming.

My IOH temp is 67C but I don't know what that means. :(

IOH is Intel speak for Input Output HUB, and is on the I7 CPU.

Is an IOH temp of 67C good or bad?
