My modem is Kinda old (Westell 6100 from Verizon) and I'm planning to use a linksys wireless router http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 833124190. I just want to ask if it's possible to use it as a modem?

The terminology is a bit confusing -- everything seems to be called a router whether it's wireless or does or does not include an ADSL modem.

You need to be very specific when buying: check whether your ISP is cable or ADSL. And whether the router should include an interface to a cable modem or have a built in ADSL modem -- and whether you want wireless or not.

If you intend to replace the existing modem with a router/modem , check with your ISP before doing and for the setting required. Their website Help files may offer guidance on suitable models too.
