Facebook running slow since hoax bin laden video

Facebook had a silly thing about a video of Bin Laden that was spreading to users, and then all that users friends. I managed to clear it all up, but since then facebook has been running ridiculously slowly. My ex-but-still-friends wife is having exactly the same issue, so I dont think it is a problem with my machine. Just annoying that I cleared up the mess, but it has never run the same since. For instance, if you are typing a message or chatting, it will freeze for a while after every few characters you type. That is the kind of thing. Any help please? Thanks
