I have a problem with my HDTV and Windows Vista. It is only being recognized as a Generic PNP HDMI monitor and I'm trying to figure out if I need special drivers for Vista and if so, where would I get them? I don't see anything on the Sharp website. Thanks.
You can try going through your driver control panel. Both NVIDIA and ATi have HDTV settings where you can set custom resolutions and refresh rates. Have you tried there yet?
Yeah, I have a huge amount of available resolutions and that's actually my problem, I'm not sure which one to choose. I figured if Windows/Graphics card (Radeon 4550) knew what type of monitor it was connected to it might help narrow those choices down a bit.
For example, I'm using this PC to play HD (720p) movies. I want to choose the best resolution for this but I'm unclear what 720p actually translates to in terms of a resolution to select in the control panel.
You should pick the maximum supported resolution of your TV (if 1080p it should be 1920x1080, 720p could be 1280x720 or 1366x768). Check up on what the TV supports and change the resolution and refresh rate from there.
