Ok a quick question bout memtest,

If i run it and as it starts (shows the 3 options you can choose and then starts the test!) if at that time bout 10sec into the test my pc restarts would that mean one or both of my ram sticks are faulty?

Are you running them at their rated freq., timing and voltage? Or over?
A restart usually means failed CPU overclock rather than RAM being the problem.

Everything is default nothing is overclocked.

i haven't changed any bios settings or changed the ram or voltage either.

Built the pc and ran it as is. Could it be that i have to set the ram? And make sure its not going over its voltage etc?

If you just left everything 'Auto' in BIOS then your motherboard might try to run them at their rated spec., but with vDIMM still remain at stock JEDEC spec. (1.8V for DDR2 and 1.5V for DDR3).
Or it's possible with some memory controllers (except i7 processors) dislike having unusually high RAM speed and a lowly stock speed FSB.

If you list the spec. of your rig then I'll be able to get a better understanding of things.

I would test with higher voltage, 1.9, 2.0v to see if that is the problem

if it is, and it wont work at 1.8v, I would send it back

Ok i didn't try with a higher voltage, but i did use memtest86+ on my ram sticks separately!

Each completed the test with no errors at all, but even if i used just 2gb of ram as i start to load a game my pc restarts..
