Yep. Video memory type is irrelevant for motherboard compatibility.

Hi...You dont have to check the compatabilty of the vRAM and the mobo...The factor that you should check is the Slot type...Whether the mobo has PCIe x16 Slot or AGP slot for choosing the graphics card type...
If you have a PCIe x16 slot, then you can use any PCIe x16/ PCIe x16 2.0 Graphics card and vice - versa
If you have an AGP slot on the mobo, then you can use only AGP graphics cards...

Your mobo has PCIe 2.0 slot so it can use any of the PCIe x16/ PCIe x16 2.0 cards with any type of RAM be it GDDR3/ GDDR2/ GDDR5/ or any...
So just check the slot type...
And your mobo is compatible with that card...
A general suggestion though...that 9800GT card is not worth that money...
Instead get this...

And before you buy these discrete graphics cards, check if your power supply will be able to handle these...

i could see where someone would think that there could be incompadibility, think about the memory for computers now DDR,DDR2,DDR3 it is getting confusing for people that are new to the inner workings of computers

^ That PSU is more than suffice for any single card configuration(Except X2 configs and GTX295)...
What resolution do you play at ???
And give us the max budget that you want to spend on the graphics...

Reply to gkay09

windows mode for mmorpgs and full screen for shooting games like l4d, Team fort 2, cs, gunz the duel

and my mobo is a mATX it can only fit 1 card

max budget would be around $130 i guess

You could try this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814150351 or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814121317 (if you overclock a little you get nearly the performance of the HD4850 with 512 MB no HD4770 with 1GB yet but it's coming).

^ Nice suggestions...
The 4850 1GB should work for you very good...
