Hi guys, this is gonna sound like a real simple question but I've got to know:

Is the blue part of the Kingston HyperX memory removable? Like am I supposed to removed the blue part before installation in my comp? Or is it not able to be removed and supposed to be part of the memory.

There's tonnes of pics of hyperx, but here's a few:

The blue part seems to be plastic, and if it isn't supposed to be removable, is the plastic part resistant to electrostatic damage? I mean, if i only touch the blue bit, will I not have to worry about ESD damage to my memory??

Thanks guys.

no it's metal and it's called a heat spreader. You want to keep that on the memory.

Okay, so it's metal, and it needs to stay on. But is it as susceptible to ESD damage as the actual memory chips, pins etc.?? Or is the metal resistant... Please clarify on this issue.

Why are you worrying about this anyway? Don't worry about static electricity. Just install the da** RAM while you're grounded.

Truly unneeded paranoia, imo.
