WinXP bluray disc "blank but not writable"

Hi,

I have an LG BluRay writer on my PC; trouble is it won't write BluRay discs.

Cyberlink Power2Go reports blank discs as
Status: blank
Writable: no
Available capacity: 0.0MB (I guess this is logical if the drive is not writable)

(And Nero also says unwritable.)

Both Nero and Cyberlink write fine to the two DVD writers I have in the same PC.

The LG drive is HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH08LS20 2.00
Running WinXP SP3.

When I looked at the registry it showed drive type 3 for the BluRay drive; a search showed this to mean 'not writable' - so far so good. As per recommendation I changed this to type 2 (same as other drives) and powered down then up but drive still not writable. (I tried also type 1 - no difference.)

Any suggestions anyone please?

Have you tried ImgBurn? Also, can you read BR Rom? I'm not sure if XP comes with native UDF support, which is the disc format of BRs. If the drive won't read BR ROM, it may be you need to add support.

What versions of Nero and cyberlink are you using?

Thanks for the response.

(1) not tried ImgBurn; downloading now (will post update when done)

(2) can read a BluRay fine

(3) Nero is Express Essentials 7

(4) Cyberlink Power2Go BD v 6.0.0.2221
(came with the drive)
