Can a SATA HD be added to a Raid-1 SAS system?

My current computer contains two SAS drives in Raid1 array. Can I add a single SATA drive for additional storage? I am assuming it would be seperate from the Raid1 and obviously not mirrored.

As long as your computer has some SATA ports available then you can add another SATA drive to it and use it as a separate data storage device. Using RAID doesn't preclude you from adding other drives - the only limitation would be if you wanted the new drive to be part of one of your existing RAID volumes.

If you don't have any SATA ports available but you do have a spare PCI or PCIe slot, then you could buy a PCI or PCIe to SATA adapter card and then connect the drives to it.
