i have a sony vaio with t3200 2ghz/1mb/667 and gl40 express chipset i want to get a faster cpu i ws looking at the t7200 but don't know if it will fit as its a different socket anyway what about the t5850 is that a good upgrade from the t3200 and will i notice any speed and performance gain. could u please advice what would be best and what cpu to go with and whether my chipset would support core 2 duo as the t3200 is dual core i want the fastest cpu possible for my chipset and i think its socket p 478 micrro fcpga

The first question should be "Will the BIOS support it?" You probably can't use a CPU that wasn't available from Sony for that system. Before buying a CPU not on the list, you should contact Sony to make sure that it will work.

+1. Upgrading laptop CPUs is VERY risky.
