Is there a way to power-off your computer when you're on command like environments (DOS) besides off-course cutting off the power abruptly.

I am afraid this might cause problems.

Cause for example i may some times want to change some settings on the BIOS or run memtest and i immediately would like to switch off the computer.

Restarting the computer and waiting till the loggon screen to shut down is way too much work.

Well yes but isnt it abrupt for the power to go off like that?

What i mean is, isnt it dangerous to shut down your computer in non-windows environments?

Or like when the windows logo is booting or in the POST Screen, or when entering or exiting the BIOS.
