Hi my brother is letting me work in his old PC. I notice that Compaq made a partition for the Restore Point. I hate partitions on older pcs. Seems to slow them down a bit. I want to delete it. I went into Disk Management and went to delete it but it says i cannot cause it may be in use or the volume is open it may be configured as a system a boot or pagefile volume. I formatted the partition to begin with but if i delete the partition will this cause XP to mess up? Please help

Having a hidden restoration partition on an older computer won't slow it down, or otherwise adversely affect its performance. The partition was hidden by the OEM manufacturer and contains(ed) the files and folders to re-install the original operating system and restore the computer to its original condition if the OS became corrupt. Be ready to buy a new OS for your brother if his OS becomes corrupted or will not boot.
