Need a little CPU upgrade advice - worth it?

Hey all -

Current setup:

Quote:
Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8 GHz overclocked to 3.15 GHz
Gigabyte 965P-DS3
4GB Corsair PC2-6400 800mhz (using 2.0 as multiplier, so it's running at 700mhz right now)
ATi 4850 512MB
Corsair 550W
Seagate 250GB SATA
Zalman 9500

And I'm looking at:

Quote:
Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz (hope to hit 4.0GHz, 3.8GHz or so would be fine though)
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R
4GB Corsair PC2-8500 1066mhz
Seagate 1TB SATA
Xigmatek S1283

Power supply and GPU would remain the same

Would it be worth the expense to upgrade at this point? The catalyst for me thinking about an upgrade is the fact that my HD is now 90% full, and I figured that if I'm already in there, replacing the hard drive (AND buying a fresh copy of XP, as my old one was lost in a move >.>), that it might be fun to throw in a new CPU and mobo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Your system is still pretty good. If your only problem is low hard drive space, then you should just add a second hard drive for storage and free up space on your main drive. It'll be much easier than rebuilding your entire system.

I think I'm just getting the upgrade itch. It's too much fun to tinker :)

i agree, i love tinkering... but in my opinion, the 4GB Corsair PC2-6400 800mhz is fine, you wont need the 4GB Corsair PC2-8500 1066mhz as it is basically just OC'd PC2-6400 800mhz RAM anyway.

the E8400 is nice, and so isn't the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R, my one concern... the Hard Drive, i would go with the WD Caviar 640GB Black model (ends in AALS), Seagate seems to be off their game lately and the WD is a GREAT Hard Drive...
