Laptop outputs-
-VGA
-7 Pin Svideo

HDTV inputs-
-HDMI
-Component

Is there anyway to get High Definition with this setup? (VGA to component coverter?)

You said it: VGA to component converter. But you could just get a cable like this:

the fine print in the link posted above:

Note: RGB/HV (VGA) is different than Component Video (Y-Pr-Pb) and you cannot convert with just a cable. Please look at our large assortment of video converters for RGB-YPrPb conversion.

dang fine print!

You might try this:
Vga to DVI cable, then use an HDMI adapter to convert to TV input.

I seem to remember getting all kinds of silly connectors with video cards that would output VGA to component cable, pretty sure it can be done.
