I recently purchased a amd althlon x2 7850 processor BE for my computer, the mobo i use is m2a-vm and i downloaded ( as the helper website on asus requested) the latest bios update which is 2302, after much sufferage because my computer kept freezing (im using 64 bit vista home premium edition) so i backflashed form a cd which the whole ordeal with that can be seen at http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] ios-update i tried going down the the bios update before the latest 2201 to no avail, the computer stilll froze, and sorry i skipped it but after i backflashed the bios i ran 1501 which came with my mobo would not allow access to the cpu multiplier and had a stock speed of 7x which was unacceptable since the default for the cpu is 14x200fsb ok so finally after two full days of messing with it to install the bios update right above mine which is 1604 and huzzah its working now, hasnt frozen. been running over an hour now, longer than it lasted with the latest updates in bios so if your system starts to freeze, dont panic right away and try what i did. when i called asus they said the bios chip might be too outdated for the latest bios upgrades so you might need a new one WHICH would probably be more trouble than its worth and more money than its worth so i was seriously considering buying a new mobo, but luckily i fixed it and didnt hve to resort to that. hope this helps
