Just newly bought a Seasonic M12II 500W from www.msy.com.au last week, the thing has been fine but rescently (or I did not notice) it starts to give out a high pitch noise, it feels like say your neghbour is using their vaccum cleaner, even though you can't really pick up the sound of the motor but you can hear a distanct high pitch whine.
My Seasonic whines even louder when it under some load. (Say half hour of Crysis).
When I turn the computer off and have the PSU plugged in and on I can also hear some electrical crackling noise when I put my ear next to it.
As soon as I turn it on the whining noise will wind up from silent and reaches full peak, much like a fan does. (I am pretty sure the fan is not suppose to do this).
Is this thing defective? brought it back to MSY today the dude said he can't hear it. So I am going to bring the whole system down there tomorrow to show him)
My spec:
Core 2 E4300 1.8GHz @ 2.7 GHz
Gigabyte 9800GTX+
2 HDD SATA
4G Memory
12cm case fan Cooler Master
Maybe its your DVD drive thats making the high pitch noise. Is there a cd in it?
High pitch noise could also be one of your hardrives. Seems pretty simple to me, put in another power supply and if the noise goes away, problem solved.
