During my regular afternoon googling, I bumped into an interesting article on [l=http://www.legitreviews.com/article/601/1/]Legit Reviews[/l] regarding ddr3 on cl4 timings. Even thought it's from 2007, I was inspired to try it on my own modules. I was able to get my 1333mhz OCZ Platinum (rated at 1600mhz but my phenom II doesn't like it -_-) from 7-7-7-24 to an unstable 5-5-5-18 after raising volts from 1.85 to 2.00, and stopped at a stable 6-5-5-18 @ 1.95v.

Finally, my question is whether or not I should try reducing timings even further by raising voltage? Will the higher power consumption worth the extra performance or will it be negligible?

The timings at 6-5-5-18 @ 1.95v. are possible with your procesor running at it's current speed which is fine if lower timings is your goal. Should you try to overclock the processor, the timings may have to go back to 7-7-7-24 or 'looser' to achieve higher CPU speeds. You would have to loosen those timings up to achieve a decent overclock on the procesor. List your complete system specs for further help.

Phenom II x3 710
Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P AM3
Sapphire hd4870 512mb
OCZ Platinum pc3-12800 7-7-7-24

Most of the times I'm running my processor on 3.25 ghz (250x13) and my Ram on 1333mhz 7-7-7-24 @ 1.85v.
Actually the thing I care the most for is achieving stable 1600mhz on the ram, that'll give me more overclocking options cuz the mobo sports very few memory multipliers. I tried everything though (loosen timings, different volts..), well at least everything I know of...

Any suggestions?
