Hi

I just got my new evga gtx 285, but when I am playing games, I can hear this sound is like when you put a sausage in the microwave
but it only happens in the menus
Please check this image
Idle temp, load temp, corrupted map and the menu where I hear that sound

It happens with SO MANEY GPUs. It happens to me too. I'm trying to fix it but i thinks i have to live with it. If you want some info try to seach "coil whine" or "Coil Buzz" Good luck :)

It seems that the problem it's just a component that buzz because of the PSU, the MB or god knows what... But appart from the HORRIBLE noise it seems not to be important.

I'm also having that issue, my gtx285 makes weird squeaking noises when i play crysis warhead and doing a 3d vantage benchmark. I recently upgraded my PSU to corsair HX1000, but it still makes that noise. I think its the graphics card. Hopefully its nothing bad, sounds like a common problem. But is there any way to stop the noise?

having same issue with gtx280 - high pitch noise in some games, games menus, folding@home on GPU

i read somwhere its an issue with low quality or some old generation capacitors on graphic cards [maybe someone else can explain that in more detail]

I don't know why I cant edit but anyway

I send my card back to amazon, and ordered a new one but I have the same problem, I have an asus 750i with 700 W PS
I had an 9800 gtx+ ssc and everything was perfect, I play with my 9500 and its ok
Why I have this problem with the 285 :(

I had the same problem with my gtx 285 ssc, I already RMA'd once and the new card still makes the buzzing sound. From what I've read it has to do with the power going to the card and its capacitors. People say it seems to go away on its own and doesn't hurt the card, and I think that's the case as after using it for a few days its less noticeable and is getting quieter.

if I use vsync the sound disappear! I really dont know why but its gone!
