I read that the Rampage 2 Extreme isn't standard ATX size, its a little bit bigger. Is that why your replacing your case?
(antec 1200 ftw)
These are some facts I know about R2E. The Rampage II Extreme has a unique BIOS(im not sure any other boards do this). It has taken out the FSB option and you just use CPU ratio settings. The Rampage II Extreme supports 3-way SLI while the P6T deluxe supports only 2-way. The R2E is better for overclocking and tweaking.
So yeah. Since money isn't a factor in your decision, definitely go with the R2E. It is one of the best boards out there for overclocking. Plus ASUS always makes good boards . If you do buy get it from newegg.com. They are really dependable for RMA's and such.
I agree that the R2E is the better board do to extra OC features, but I am confused as to why the P6T is capable of supporting 24GB max and the higher end OC board R2E only supports up to 12GB ram

definitely the RAMPAGE II EXTREME she got to be ur only option cz i got it im currently running this system:
-ASUS RAMPAGE II EXTREME.
-ASUS EN 9800GT ULTIMATE SLI (2).
-CPU INTEL CORE I7 940.
-6GB RAMS G.SKILL 1800MHZ.
-CASE THERMALTAKE ARMOR+.
-CPU COOLER ANTEC.
-H.D 320GB SATA2.
-P.S.U 1000W.
-DVD RW SATA2.
The system is running like a dream the CPU temperature at idle 34C under load 40C is the max, MB temperature is 26C on idle under load is 32C OR 33C max, NB temperature is 46C on idle under load 48C , 49C same as the SB its a cooled MB rock solid all the time im using ASUS from 10 years never had any cooling or any prob with any board since my old 945GC chipset to my P5K deluxe moving to my STRIKER II FORMULA now going EXTREME with my RAMPAGE II EXTREME so my msg is anyone wants to change this board should be ur only choice t.c all bye bye.
Which is really kind of pointless right now, except in servers and the such. Right now on a gaming rig, 12gb of ram actually could and most likely would decrease performance. Thats just more *** for the memory controller to keep track of and bog it down. The only real reason I'm going with 3x2gb chips right now is for future proofing. I don't plan on maxing out 6gb of ram any time soon.

no i say this because somebody higher up the page said R2E only supports 12gb and p6t 24gb, i would use 6gb max anyways
