I see a lot of pocketpc sites where streaming video clips are provided.
However, none of these seem to work on my ppc2002/wmp8 ipaq.

Is ppc2002/wmp8 at least capable of accepting the streaming formats like asx
?
Or is that restricted to wmp9 ?

If possible, which program can generate wmp8 suitable streams ?

*I'm thinking about a ppc2003 upgrade due to all this fancy streaming stuff
which I lack.

It seems like pocket pc's with WM8 are stuck to windows media 8 video
although they can use WM9 audio. So if the video was encoded for WMV9
then it's likely your PPC version can't play it.

Afaik there's no way to easily transcode the newer format for the
older player

You can grab the encoder (it's free) from the MS windows media area
and do your own, there are built in profiles for pocket PC which
should work (as the encoder pre-dates WM2003).
