I just build my first new comp with a GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-UD4H mobo. The BIOS has three options to install the hard drives on

Native IDE
ACHI
RAID

I have one SATA Segate 160gb hard drive which is like any other Sata HD, but Vista would not detect the HD at install with Native IDE on. I e-mailed gigabyte, they told me i had to have the BIOS settings on ACHI and then they sent me the ACHI RAID drivers at the install screen so the HD installs the OS. They were right, i turned on ACHI and loaded the drivers and install was a breeze. I don't understand why this is, because i looked up that Native IDE was fine to install your OS on a sata drive, but gigabyte told me differently. Can anybody make something of this, i cannot. Thanks
