I have a 2TB drive and it has 2 partitions, one of which is in use for storage - family pics, videos, etc.
The other partition has 400G of free space, now if I extend the volume (with the pics, videos, etc) to bring in the empty partition, I won't lose any of the files I hope, correct?

Solution
No, you won't loose those files.
Windows just sets those disks/partitions up as if they are 1 drive even though they are 2 seperate drives or partitions.

FYI,
you will need to delete the partition that is just empty then it can be added to the other drive.
