Difference is when I buy...soon or later. If it's later then it will probably be the i7. Thoughts/changes? I feel like these are nearly 100% polished.

They will both be fine systems.
For my extra $300 I would buy the i7, or get a fast 775 45nm quad.

bump...any other suggestions? Anything that would add value/future-proofing i'm down for. I'm flexible in my budget to a certain extent.

This is probably a middle ground between the two. The DDR3 is replacing the DDR2, but you may want to wait on the I7 until they are a little more reasonably priced.
