you do know that is how they make money?

if they didn't have advertisements on their website there would be no tom's.

Don't visit it if you don't want to.

i agree with the OP, Tom's has too many ads, compared to when it was still run by Tom Pabst.

of course, that would make an interesting article, in the category of web analytics.

what happens to traffic as a website gets more ads ?

is there an age component to the reactions, where older viewers who are not used to so many ads are more turned off by all the ads ?

there's a lot of computer knowledge here, and this is the website that hosted the 2003 Motherboard Tsunami, THE best motherboard review in the history of computer journalism.

Yeah, this thread belongs in the formum feedback area, not CPUs. OTOH, BOM's experimenting on us is causing some grief - half the time the forum pages don't even want to load.

Just before this thread dies:

Use the power of the host files OP!. I don't have Ad-block now, and the host files take no performance hit on browser speed, etc.

I understand they need to advertise, but do we really need full page-cant see anything but the ad-ads?

I don't really mind large ads. Firefox's pop-up blocker doesn't seem to filter Toms' ads. That's a big pain in the ass.

well use chrome then, it is the most secure browser after all and arguably the fastest.

not after adblock + extra filters and flashblock.

Reply to amdfangirl

Now that you've posted that here, can't Toms find a way round adblock?

EDIT: Just tried adblock and wow! it actually works! no more ads from toms!

I don't mind the ads. In fact, I don't know what full page ads you're talking about! I've used this website and used the forum for ages, and I don't have any problem with the ads. The most I've seen are the barely noticeable ads at the top of the page. They need to make money somehow or this website wouldn't exist!
