I'm trying to upgrade my HTPC so it can play HD/720p and maybe someday BluRay/1080p (I don't have the BluRay player or TV capable of 1080p, so it's not necessary).

Below is a link- what would you do? This machine is strictly a HTPC - I will NOT be playing games on it.

Any of those cards would work just fine for HD/720p as well as 1080p. I suggest you get the 4350 because it is 1. cheaper 2. cooler and 3. has the most recent chipset and supports LPCM out with its bundled audio chip.

Maybe look a little more for a 4350 or 4550 that has an onboard HDMI port so you won't need a DVI->HDMI adapter if/when you go blu-ray.

+1 RWPRITCHETT, the HD4550 is probably the best choice if you want to go Blu-Ray in the future and it`s only a few Dollars more (not even a fistful in fact;))

Great- thanks for your reply. I'll look more into the 4350. I've been extremely happy with XFX, so I may go with that one even though it doesn't have the HDMI. My current TV has a DVI port, but HDMI is a good idea if I get a new TV in a couple years.

Looking at the fanless 4550s on NewEgg... Do I go with the Sapphire (cheaper one with no reviews) or spend $8 on the Gigabyte? I have a full sized tower so low profile isn't a big deal.

Alright- I went with the Sapphire... looks nearly identical to the other, but cheaper. And I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible.
