Processor: 2.7 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 7750
Memory: 4G DDR2

I am going to be running a media server in my home and want to build the lowest-cost, but reliable, system possible. I was thinking of the Athlon X2 7750. I am going to be running 3TB RAID 0 but upgrading in the future. What are your thoughts on an inexpensive motherboard?

Chipsets:

780G is µATX. I suggest Asus. Not Gigabyte. I have bad experience.
790GX is ATX.

Get DDR2-1066 if you want to overclock.

i would suggest another 1TB HDD and do a raid-5 for redundancy

Thanks for the suggestion, currently I only have 2 1.5TBs, so I would have to invest a bit more dollars for the redundancy

What are the implications of buying something "Open Box" from Newegg? Is it just a gamble for $20?
