WD External Hard drive

My WD 320GB external hard drive hit the ground while connected. It no longer shows up on, My Computer.

I bought a new External hardrive and allowed PC World to plug the faulty one in-all my file opened and showed up on their Linux system.

I returned the next day to aske them to transfer my files to the new external drive.

I have just received a call that the files no longer show up and it is causing their computers to crash.

Help!!!!!!!

  1. Keep on trying, best when cold, I had one that would allow access after giving it a good rap and then powering on. Running check disk can help if can't access the data when recognized. But realize it's dead or going dead. Have a plan, what data do you need first as you may only have 5 minutes to backup.

Thank you for your recommendations. I will let you know how I get on.
  3. sorry, I should mention that it's much easier to do all I mentioned by hanging your drive onto another computer as a slave.
