I just built my Core i7 gaming system:

Core i7 920
Gigabyte UD5
6 gigs ram
1000 watt PSU

I bought my first Sapphire 4870x2 a month ago, and the clocks in ATI Overdrive go up to 800 GPU / 1000 MEM

I just put my second Sapphire 4870x2 in tonight to crossfire, and this card says it's clocks only go to 778 GPU / 980 MEM

What is up with that? How can the exact same card and manufacturer have different clocks?

I am using CCC 9.1

Another thing, in CCC when you go to 3D settings, when i first installed CCC the little menu's had a animations, now it's just a still frame picture. Is there a bug in this driver?

Every piece of hardware is going to be slightly different. Just how the same model of CPU will overclock to different speeds.

I would assume this comes about from something in the creation process, but maybe someone who knows will post.

Can anyone else comment on this clock issue?

@ Bonanzaguy: That's a piss poor bit of advice you offered

Mate check out the AMD forums: http://forums.amd.com/game/message [...] erthread=y

There is a problem with quad Xfire - ie two X2 cards - whereby only 2 GPUs are recognised. Check out the newest threads on that forum

Thanks... I've researched a ton on this issue, and really can't find much.

I've noticed the bios version of the first 4870x2 I bought is older than the second.

Again, In Cataylst ATI Overdrive, why does one card's OC ability go to 800 gpu/1000 mem and the other only to 780 gpu / 980 mem? Same cards, Same manufacturer

Why does it matter? They won't overclock the same, and as long as they are running just fine, I don't really see a significant issue.

Now, if only 2 GPUs are recognized, that's a different issue.
