I'm trying to figure out how to enable memory remapping on a ECS A780GM-A motherboard.
I recently upgraded to a 64bit windows version and added more memory to my system, but according to my system info only 2GB of my 6GB are usable. Did some research and found out that Memory Remapping needs to be enabled.

I checked my bios but can't find anything about memory remapping there.

Thanks

Hi R

Your bios must support memory remapping and most modern boards do not support it.

You mean, most modern boards do support it...? Not even 64bit Windows can use all the ram without memory remapping.

But not all boards have the option to enable or disable it in the bios, they just enable it.

Please, you are telling the guy that modern boards don't support memory remapping and then you call me a "smart guy". What are you?

Your profile information cannot possible be correct. You cannot possible be 40+ the way you behave.

Rogue11, do you have a maximum memory setting configured in msconfig? Does the task manager also display 2GB?

Thanks Mikerev007, I checked msconfig and the max memory was set to 2 GB.

So, those modern boards that don't have the bios option to enable memory mapping already automatically remap? That's interesting to know. From what I had found on the net earlier yesterday, I assumed if you can't set it, you are just out of luck.

Thanks again.

@Rougue11
That's basically true. I was helping another guy and I had to pull is user manual (ASUS P5Q Pro). In his bios section I seen the Memory Remap Feature under Advanced/North Bridge Chipset Configuration. The P5Q Pro is a modern board.

@Mikerev007
Loosen up dude, you take this stuff far too serious. And as far as my age is concerned? You just worry about getting in one piece.
