About 6 months ago I put together this system:
-XP prefoessional
-Biostar 8200 Mobo
-8800gt video
-Western Digital Caviar SE 160gig
-random cd drive
-4g ram
-amd athlon x2 5000+ BE overclocked to 3ghz

About 2 months ago it started to sometimes not recognize the harddrive on boot. If I kill it and try and boot again it usually just boots fine. I have tried switching SATA ports and it doesn't seem to make a difference. All my drivers and bios are the latest version.

Is my harddrive dieing?
Bad cable?
Mobo issues?

Any advice is appreciated.

no one ever replied to me... but I replaced my SATA cable and it resolved the issue.. or at least it hasn't had the problem since. I hope this helps someone down the line.
