Sorry if this kind of a noob question but I haven't purchased a PSU in 5 years and now looking do so since my antec TP500W went bad. I'm confused by these 2.0 and 2.2 number next to 12V. I have a ASUS P5N-D board will these newer PSU's work for me? I'm looking at the OCZ600SXS and Antec EA650 but my budget is $80 via Newegg. I also have a 900 case so cables need to able to reach.

q6600, 9600GT, 1HD, 1BluRay Drive, 5 fans.

From the ATX spec sheet:
http://www.formfactors.org/developer\specs\atx2_2.pdf

"Changes from Version 2.1 to Version 2.2
Global change removed ATX in ATX/ATX12V Power Supply Design Guide.
Important Information and Disclaimers updated.
Section 4.1—Main Power Connector changed from 20 pin to 24 pin to support PCI-Express* requirements.
Section 4.1.1—Removed Aux Power Connector Recommendation if using a power supply designed using
ATX12V Power Supply Design Guide Rev 2.0 or greater.
Section 4.1.4—Update 3.3 V tolerance."

I can't say what PSU you actually need without more info, but the EA650 is a good PSU in general. The OCZ 600SXS is adequate.

^5 +1 what Proximon said.

It's kind of hard to make a good recommendation unless we have a little more info like do you intend to do some hardcore gaming and serious overclocking. Mutiple video cards in your future?

We've had several threads asking about the Eantec Earthwatts power supplies. I had to do a little research and discovered the EA650 is an above average power supply at a budget price. It can power a single GTX280 video so a 9600GT is no problem at all.

JonnyGuru.com did a technical review and test of the unit. Here's a link to the review:

Not anything to do with power. Could be that there are multiple 12v rails. Most likely though it's something with the brand.

Well I plan to keep this system as it is now, seeing as the 500w was able to power it without a problem then the 650 should do just fine. I was more curious as to the 2.0 numbers next to the 12v and making sure it was compatible it seems that it is but not much decription about these "versions" as based the review and my history with Antec I have ordered the ea650.
