Building External USB 3.0 HDD Help

im looking to get an internal hdd and an enclosure, and ive never done it before. i want it to output usb 3.0, and want fast speed. so id want the interface to be SATA 6.0, right? would 7200rpm we be good enough too?

No hard drives can keep up with even a 3.0Gbit/sec SATA connection, let alone a 6.0Gbit/sec one. So don't worry about what kind of SATA connection the hard drive has. If you use a USB 3.0 enclosure and connect it to a USB 3.0 port on your computer then you'll have something that's running as fast as it can no matter what kind of SATA connection the hard drive uses.

so get A sata 3.0? or even lower?

and is cache size a big deal? it has either 16mb, 32mb, or 64 mb...

You probably won't be able to find anything slower than SATA 3.0Gbit/sec these days.

For the most part cache size won't matter. Once you have enough cache, adding more doesn't make much difference. Some drives with more cache may perform better, but in most cases if you look closely at the spec sheets it's not so much because they have more cache but because the underlying drive itself is faster, which is usually because it has denser platters.
