Should i get a e8400, im going to overclock this to 3.6Ghz or should i get a Q8200, oc this to 2.8 Ghz. I going to use this comp for gaming, and maybe tiny bit of video editing. What should i get, i can't get Q6600, or Q9 series, way over budget already.
i know you're buying intel but wait till after monday, amd is having a launch and it will most likely effect prices of everything, as intel reprices it's cpu's to match amd's nowadays, you might get a break on that q6600.
As it stands now, gaming only really requires a good dual core, especially if it has a high clock speed, say a e7700 (low scale) or e8600. But it will be the case that everything will be optimised for quad soon enough, even games (GTA4 being an example).
I would hold out like rosenberg1979 says and see what the price of the q6600 is like.

Sigh.... Anyways I'm not buying it from a online store, so maybe ill just get the e8400 today, and if the price falls, the stores has a good match the price 7 days policy. So, ill have till next saturday, if the price does change. I don't really want to go online, so i probably wont get the Q6600 anyways

Go with the Quad for future proofing. People that buy dual cores now and game and multitask on their main system will be sorry. AMD is coming out with their top end quad phenom 2 955 at 3.2ghz this coming week and it will effect prices across the board. Wait and see what happens.
