Archived from groups: alt.satellite.tv (More info?)
I have a pre-wired modern home that currently has 3 satellite tv drops
1 in the living room with 2 RG-6 coax wires (directivo) and one in
each of 2 bedrooms (standard tuners).
I would like to add to a third bedroom a satellite receiver eventually
but this room is currently using the only RG-6 drop for cable internet
service. I have been reading some websites selling multi-switch
products that can combine satellite and cable services to one RG-6
line and then split them back with a diplexer.
I would need to purchase a 5x8 splitter I think, unless they come with
less outputs than 8..not sure. Any brand recommendations?
My question is, does this process of combining and then re-splitting
cause any degradation of the signal for either the TV or the cable
signal?
