Hey gang, this is my second overclock build and I just wanted to run the numbers by some folks with more experience. (and maybe brag a little!) My first attempt was less than stellar so this time I decided to do my research and get it right. I read many, many posts on here and other forums then sat down with a calculator, pencil and paper and did it all on paper before I messed with anything in the bios. This method proved far superior to the "wing it" approach on my earlier attempt!

Here's the equipment:

Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5
Phenom II X6 1055T
CoolerMaster V8 w/ AS5
8G ADATA DDR3 1600G Memory
2X XFX Radeon HD 5770's
Thermaltake 750 watt PSU
500G ??? HHD
94G OCZ Vertez SSD
Antec 900 case

Here's the numbers:

CPU clock ratio: 14
CPU Northbridge Freq: x7 (1995 Mhz)
Core Performance Boost: Disabled
CPU Freq: 285 Mhz (x14=3990 Mhz)
HT Link Freq: x7 (1995 Mhz)
Mem Clock: x5.33 (1519 Mhz)
DDR3 Timings: 7/7/7/20
DRAM volts: 1.530v
CPU volts: 1.530 (+0.175)
GPU clocks: 930 Mhz (stock 850)
GPU Memclock: 1250 Mhz ( 1200 stock)

I ran OCCT for an hour with a max temp reading of 44 degrees and an idle of 22 degrees.

I have a couple of questions if anyone wants to weigh in:
Do these temp readings seem a little low to you guys? 22 degrees C is only about 72 F... that's about the temp of the room the computer is in. The case does have excellent airflow. I moved all my drives to the bottom to make a "tunnel" from the top front fan, through the V8 cooler and out the top back fan.

Also, I had it running at 4004 Ghz with a CPU freq of 286 but took errors after 30 min of OCCT. Can I safely bump the CPU volts up another hair and maybe stabilize it? I sure would like to break the 4G barrier!

Thanks!

I don't know for sure with AMD, but it might be something along the lines of Cool N Quiet causing the idle temps to be too low. I know that when I have C States (C6) on it tends to cause a similar issue, where all cores read as low as 18C.
