Hi. Im gonna suggest ya a thing. I would recommend u buying 2 radeons HD 4850 1gb and linking em in crossfire, since ur mobo support CF, instead of buying a single 4850X2. Why u should do that even is more expensive?, and thats for a simple reason: the 4850X2 is a loud card. Ive got one, and although u wont notice the noise when u are gaming, when ur browsing or something like that, it can be very annoying.

I was also thinking of ditching the 4850 x2 for a single 4870 but i was not sure about going with vista 64 because i heard there were lots of driver issues. If I'm sticking with 32 bit, there's probably no need to get more than 3 gigs of RAM, is there?

I own full copies of both XP 32-bit, Vista 32-bit, and Vista 64-bit. I used to have both XP and Vista 64 on this machine, but found I never used XP and took it off.

Vista 64 SP1 is rock solid on new hardware, and is the best OS I have owned since DOS 6.0 ;)

Others here will tell you the same, and I doubt you'll hear any dissenting voices. The day of the 32 bit OS is pretty near the end.

Even so, if you buy 3GB now and decide you want more later, you'll have to throw it away. That board only has 4 memory slots.

Pre-SP1, vista 64 had issues but now its a solid OS.
I would want a board with 6 memory slots so you can expand your memory and still use triple channel memory. Cheapest one that does this is the Asus P6T at $250, and I think its worth the cost difference. The Asus board also allows sli or xfire so if you decide to get an nvidia card and run it sli you have that option in the future.
