I'm wondering if i get DDR3 240pin, and put it into a DDR2 motherboard... will it work???

Is DDR2 vs DDR3, the same thing, just higher clock speeds?

(both of these ?s are the same...) just wondering if i order this memory, and i get a ddr2 mobo, will it work?
