Window XP reg add access denied

I want to ADD a registry key using a .bat file. I am getting an error "Access Denied". Batch file looks as follows:

REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences" /v AcceptedPrivacyStatement /T REG_DWORD /D 1 /f

Following is the what i see when i run .bat file with pause command.

We currently have Novell environment and Novell Group Policies are not reliable at all.

Is there a way I can ADD a registry key without user interaction?

create a .reg file and run it during startup via a batch?

Is the user the file runs under an admin? Is registry editing disabled by policies?

You can do what you want, just make sure however you run it, the user the file runs under has rights to edit the registry, and to that key specifically.

@AntiZig, Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up using some other Novell Funtionality. I infact added the key running straight from the .bat file.
