Hello everyone , I have just bought an ATI POWERCOLOR HD 4670 1GB DDR3 graphics card and I am totally satisfied with it except for one thing. On the box it says that it supports shader model 4.1 but when i Use system information detecting programs they tell me my shader model is 3.0??? anyone know anything about this issue.

SM4.1 is a DX10 feature. If you're using WinXP, it only supports DX9 which uses SM3.0 You need Vista to support DX10.

Strange. I`ve just run GPUZ on my HD4870 (XP Home) and it shows DX 10.1 and SM4.1.
Try GPUZ (if you have n`t already), see what that says.

Yes, because the vid card supports DX10.1 and SM4.1, however it's useless if the OS (WinXP) doesn't support it. Run dxdiag on your computer and it will most likely report DX9.0c which uses SM3.0. Your vid card can't use what your OS can't supply it with.

I thought the same thing, which is why I suggested the OP checks his card with GPUZ, to allay his obvious concerns.
