Might be a stupid question, but which is the front and rear in a bank of 4 RAM slots on a motherboard? I've been told to place the higher DDR 400 RAM at the back and the slower DDR333 RAM at the front, to avoid over cliocking. Is this true, and will it damage my motherboard/ram if I get it wrong?

Front and rear? Usually the slot closest to the CPU is number 1. Read the MB manual for a detailed description of the DIMM slot configuration. Channel 1/Channel 2 perhaps. As in dual channel configuration.

No matter where you place a 400MHz. DIMM combined with a 333MHz. DIMM both will default to 333Mhz. the slower of the two.

No. And no. The MB manual is where the DDIMM slot configuration is explained.

Thanks badge for your quick reply. Unfortunately I don't have a MB manual.

What MB do you have? The MB manual generally is available for download off the online MB product page.
