Hi today i just finished assembling my first home built computer. I have a E8400 Intel CPU, a Arctic coolers 7 pro, a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard, ram, hard drive, Sapphire 4850 graphics card, DVD drive and a 500 watt power supply.

I have installed everything into my antec 300 case and made sure all the connections were good. now when i power up, the CPU fan does not spin and nothing appears on my monitor.... I have no idea what is wrong but i have tried to clear CMOS. I have not replaced the battery and i am about to clean the thermal paste of my CPU and fan and apply some cooler master paste.

I have no idea what is going on but all my other fans(graphics card, case fans), spin and my hard drive is active as well as my DVD drive. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Crashcover

Did you remember to plug in the 8-pin CPU power connector located near the CPU socket?

Reply to shortstuff_mt

should that come with the power supply

Edit: i just looked at my powersupply and there is a +12V 4 pin power connecter that would fit the CPU power connector?

Yes, the power supply will have a CPU power connector. What model of PSU do you have? The CPU power connector may only be a 4-pin connector depending on your PSU.

Also i have put everything back together. But when i turn on my computer my monitor gets no signal. i have a radeon 4850 1 gig and i am using DVI as my output. my fan on the card is spinning but i am getting no picture.

Is it my card or am i not pressing the right key or somthing?

Is it POSTing now? Are you hearing the beeps? Press down on the video card to make sure it's seated all the way.

Well I come home from XC skiing and head down to my basement to install windows on my new computer (I just finished it last night). I turn it on and.... nothing happens. all the fans are spinning but my monitor says "no input" i am new to all this computer building/BIOS stuff and i don't believe it is posting. well nothing comes on the screen. I have checked all the connections i can think if but i am getting no signal at all. Anyone have any suggestions??

Do you still hear the beeps on start up? Try disconnecting and reconnecting the monitor. That card has dual DVI, try the other port.
