Time to replace LNB?

I have a Directv system with 2 RCA boxes. Signal strength on all odd
transponders is below 50. Strongest even transponder signal I can get is
about 86 on transponder 26. Voltages at the dish are 12.5 VDC and 17.8 VDC.
Some channels come in great: 202, 204, local channels e.g. 980, 981 in
Atlanta. Other channels have bad dropouts, pixelation, clicking in the
audio. There is no consistent correlation between odd/even channels and
reception quality. The LNB looks to be in physically good shape, no
deterioration of the plastic. I get the same reception quality on both
receivers.

Any ideas what the source of the poor reception quality on some channels is
caused by?

I have determined the problem to be the dish aim. The signal strength on t28
was in high 80s to 90s, but t1 was in the 40s. I was under the wrong
impression that you just needed to get any transponder tuned in over 70.
Instead of tuning a random transponder, it is important to get the best
signal from the weakest of t1 or t2. Once t1 was tuned for best signal, I
have excellent reception on all channels.
