I'm looking for a non-too-fancy video upgrade on my PC. Right now I have a P5B Deluxe board by ASUS and a 1950 Pro also by ASUS. I'm running into all kinds of artifacts. Can anyone recommend a mid-range solo card? Thanks!

I know this mobo can do crossfire, but I just don't feel like monkeying with it (nor do I know if the PSU can handle it. It says SLI on it, but....you know how it goes.) What's the best option for me?

Right now I'm looking at a 9800GTX

Sorry, maybe I'm asking the wrong question....which solo card will give me the most bang for the buck, and does anyone know of any deals out there?

When was the last time you removed the card and blew it out? Most of the fans fitted to video cards have a large number of small fins that can be easily blocked by dust or animal fur.
The 9800 is a fine card and performs about the same as a HD4850, either would be a good mid/upper range choice and a decent upgrade from a 1950.
Shaving a few (fill in our local currency here) off, the HD4830 and 9600GT are a bit slower but less expensive.

That damned cat!

Thanks for the tip. I'll blow out the cat before trying a new card.

I say a 4850 or a 9800 series.

Thanks for the tips. I went with an EVGA 9800GTX and an Antec 900 to boot. Thanks again.
