Hi,

What actually happens if i remove the CMOS battery for more than 5 Minutes? Because after I removed the battery from my friends DG31PR to test another PC and then replaced it back after 5 Minutes i got all sorts of problems.

I got the usual message CHECKSUM error set time/date blah blah, Then i got this error "REALTEK GIGBIT ETHERNET Comtroller Cheking.........

Change CMOS battery
BIOS setting corrupted

SO MY QUESTION IS : Does the BIOS get ERASED if i remove the CMOS Battery for a more than like 5 MINUTES? Does it Cause any problems if i remove it for a long time ?

Register or log in to remove.

You may need to move the jumper to reset the CMOS. Which will reset the BIOS back to the original default settings.

Moving the jumper to reset the CMOS and removing the battery for 5 minutes are same things: they reset the BIOS. You cannot remove/delete/erase BIOS. Yor date will be resetted. As well as your BIOS configurations. Remember the BIOS configurations or save them to an external file (Asus mother boards have this option) inorder to not to have any problem.
